BENGALURU, 10 DEC
Mahadevapura zone has emerged as
the top contributor in property tax collections for the current fiscal year by
collecting by November-end Rs 1,154.49 crore out of the allocated target of Rs
1,309.04 crore for the city limits.
This represents an achievement of
88 per cent of the target, surpassing all other zones, the Bruhat Bengaluru
Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said on Tuesday.
According to the BBMP, the zone's
success has been attributed to focused efforts under the "One-Time
Settlement" (OTS) scheme. Regular interaction with property owners,
especially defaulters, has significantly boosted collections, it said.
KR Puram and Hoodi sub-divisions
achieved 90 per cent of their respective targets, contributing to the overall
success.
Efforts in E-Khata Distribution
Mahadevapura has also prioritised
swift issuance of E-Khatas. Of the 6,012 applications received final E-Khatas,
3,851 have already been processed, the BBMP said. Campaigns will be organised
to encourage more property owners to apply for E-Khatas, it said.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar
Girinath said, "To address grievances related to E-Khatas and ensure
transparency, a helpline (94806-83695) has been launched. People can use this
to report any issues or instances of corruption."
Overall BBMP property tax
collection stands at Rs 4,286.04 crore out of a total target of Rs 5,210.48
crore, achieving 82.26 per cent overall. East and south zones collected Rs 715.97
crore and Rs 617.77 crore, respectively. The amounts collected by other zones
are: West zone Rs 486.47 crore,
Bommanahall Rs 421.67 crore, Yelahanka Rs 415.08 crore, RR Nagar Rs 337.80
and Dasarahalli Rs 136.79.
